What a ride!

Presenting Sasha turned out to be one of the most fun times in my mom's life.  Once that first 5-pointer was out of the way she knew anything was possible.  The most exciting win for her was at the Evansville Kennel Club dog show during the huge Louisville Cluster.  All of the top handlers were there.  The entry total was 65.  Perry Payson and Jeff Brucker were right behind her at the end and working their dogs for all they were worth.  Mom stood there all nervous while Sasha showed herself off.  Lots of friends were watching from the sidelines.  Mom was sure she would be outhandled.  Thankfully, the judge was only looking at dogs that day.  Sasha went Winners Bitch and then Best of Winners to snag her second 5-point major.  The crowd went wild!

We lost Sasha on June 21, 2005, at 9 years and 5 months, to cancer.  A very sad day indeed.

Judge J. Donald Jones was not kind to my mom.  He picked at her the entire time she was in the ring.  She was positive Sasha would suffer the consequences of her inept handling skills.  Lots of people were watching and she was embarrassed.  It was only AFTER she left the ring with Sasha as Winners Bitch that she was told by onlookers that Judge Jones always picked on the one he liked best.  Mom still wasn't able to smile for the photo.

So memorable.  Judge Robert Vandiver could not gush enough about her movement.  Sasha sailed around the ring, and on her down and backs was flawless.  Straight as an arrow.  It was too hard for Judge Vandiver to not acknowledge that.  He was most complimentary.
